Summer Days

It's hard to believe that July is upon us already!  This year is just passing by so quickly.  The past few months have brought with them several small photo opportunities including Easter pictures for family, a weekend getaway to the beach, infant pictures of Mr. Kingston Crosby, an engagement session, and a casual photo session at a family get-together.  Here are just a few of the pictures.  More to come soon!

Hello again...

Somehow, two months have passed by since the last time I posted here.  I would say I'm not really sure how that happened, but I'm pretty sure I am.  Between work, my daughter, attempting (unsuccessfully) to keep up with my house, and enjoying several photo shoots, time just slipped right on by.  I guess it really is true that time flies when you're having fun!  In the past two months, I have had the privilege of photographing 4 graduating seniors, 2 and 3 year old beautiful little girls, my niece and nephew, my daughter, and my first ever wedding!!!  It has been wonderful!  I'm absolutely loving gaining more and more practice, and am really enjoying interacting with all my clients.  I have tons of pictures to upload to my website, but I'll post a few of my favorites here for you to see until I'm able to do so.  I'm also working on a new website...when I'll get it finished I can only guess :)  I'm really looking forward to my next scheduled shoot, a little one named Kingston, and I hope that you will keep me in mind the next time you find yourself in need of a photographer.  Happy Easter to all of you, and I pray that you are celebrating by worshipping a Risen Savior!

The McNabb Family

Last weekend I had the opportunity to have a session for the McNabb Family: Robert, Angie and Jessie.  It's always fun to take pictures of Jessie - she seems to love it and has a beautiful smile and personality!

Ladybug

So the theme for the I Heart Faces photo contest this week is "Red" and is spotlighting Go Red for Women!  I found this picture I took of my niece, Scarlet (extra funny that her name is Scarlet a.k.a. Red...hee hee) from the first moments after she arrived home last September.  She has a little bit of a temper, something that I can appreciate, which is probably why she loves me so much...I understand her :)

A Day in the Sun

Finally!  A day of decent spring-like weather down here in Mississippi.  A perfect day for getting out with the family and having some fun.  The highlight of the day...watching the kids take turns riding down the hill in the back yard on a little 4-wheeler.  Boys will be boys, and Callie...well, she's just Callie!

New Welcome for my Facebook Page!

I'm working on updating my Facebook page with some user friendly (and pretty) new options.  I've added a contact tab, an Etsy tab (which will hopefully have some new products available soon), and a welcome tab that my fans will see when they first arrive on the page.  Now if I can just work the kinks out, it'll be good :)

Be My Valentine!

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I decided that my daughter should have a little photo shoot to get some updated pictures and to have as Valentines for the family.  Here are a few of the shots from the session!

An Adventure with Grammy and The Gang

Grammy had promised an adventure...and one that required rubber boots, no less!  So, Friday, Callie and I met her cousin Joseph at Grammy's house to join in the fun.  The kids were both very anxious to get started on this adventure, and were waiting (I can't really say patiently) by the front door.

Once we started on our trek (a walk around a portion of the 90 acres my parents own in Magnolia) the kids were focused on spotting wildlife (you know, birds :), wading through the river (a pretty wide mud puddle at the bottom of a hill), and investigating their surroundings (peeking in the barn).

It was such a beautiful day - warm with a cool breeze.  Callie alternated from holding hands with Gram (below) to holding hands with Grammy to being an independent young lady intent on making it on her own, which is how she is most of the time anyway.

Kids really help you to see the beauty in the everyday.

Here are the main adventurers - Grammy, Joseph, and Callie - as we were nearing the end of our excursion and the promise of popsicles for the weary travelers.

Innocent Wonder

This photo was taken during a session with one of my dear friend's sons, Toby, in 2010.  He seemed to be in awe of everything around us during the shoot which is typical of that first year, I suppose.  I wonder why it is we can't remember what those first years of our lives are like, when everything is new and wonderful.  I still feel that sense of awe and wonder during certain times and situations in my life - it's a feeling you could get lost in.

My Joseph

This is Joseph. My Joseph.  My nephew.  This picture was taken during my first organized photo session nearly three years ago.  The camera was my old Fujifilm Finepix digital camera that my husband bought me for our anniversary five years ago.  Joseph smiled 90% of the time, which made my job a whole lot easier.  It's amazing to see how he's grown over the years, and I'm blessed to have been able to be a part of it.

Winter

This is the view from my back porch during the winter months. I've always thought winter brought with it a sort of eeriness.  The naked trees always remind me of "The Fall of the House of Usher." I do enjoy the break from the constant heat of Mississippi summers, but I long for the first little white flowers to pop up in my yard to let me know that spring is on its way!

Should auld aquaintance be forgot...

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!

Happy New Year to Everyone!  You may be wondering how this picture has any relation to the new year.  The young man pictured is Caiden, the son of one of my high school classmates.  I was privileged enough to be able to have a photo shoot with Caiden and his younger brother, Sawyer, a few months ago.  It was the first time that I had seen their mother, Alisha, since we graduated from high school.  I always enjoy seeing my old classmates, even the ones that weren't in my closest circle of friends.  We're adults now, you know, well, most of us are.  It's almost funny to look back now and think about the labels and drama associated with high school.  What's even funnier is how little you really know about most of your classmates.  I'm not talking about the obvious stuff like hair color and height, but about the "real" them.  It's probably because most of us are still trying to figure ourselves out in high school - what's important to us, what we want to do with our life, where we stand on the "big issues."  I'm not really sure what view my classmates had of me, but I'm pretty sure it's not an entirely accurate one.  There are things about me that have changed since high school, and there are things about me that are exactly the same.  Although I was much closer to some of my classmates than others, I consider them all friends because we share that common experience of attending the same school with the same teachers.  We went to the same dances and football games, and we all walked the same stage on graduation day.  I wonder about what the other 63 members of my class are doing now, and how they are fairing in life - not of some misguided ulterior motive - but of a genuine curiosity and concern.  These are the "auld aquaintances" of my life, in addition to some others, and I'm not likely to forget them.
